- 2 store-bought pie crusts (or make your own if you prefer)

- 6-7 medium-sized apples (such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)

- 3/4 cup granulated sugar

- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 1 tablespoon lemon juice

- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar (for sprinkling)


Instructions:

- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

- Peel, core, and slice the apples into thin, even slices. Place them in a large mixing bowl.

- In a separate bowl, mix together the sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Sprinkle this mixture over the sliced apples. Add the lemon juice and toss everything together until the apples are coated evenly.

- Line a 9-inch pie dish with one of the pie crusts, pressing it gently against the bottom and sides of the dish.
