Recipe for milk bread:
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
Instructions:
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, and butter over low heat until the butter has melted and the mixture is warm to the touch.
Add the warm milk mixture and the egg to the flour mixture. Use a wooden spoon or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook to mix until a dough forms.
Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it's doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan.
Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in the prepared pan.
Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
Brush the top of the loaf with a little milk.
Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy your freshly baked milk bread!
