Recipe for milk bread:
Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- In a small saucepan, heat the milk, water, and butter over low heat until the butter has melted and the mixture is warm to the touch.
- Add the warm milk mixture and the egg to the flour mixture. Use a wooden spoon or a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook to mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a clean towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour or until it's doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place the loaf in the prepared pan.
- Cover the pan with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let the dough rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the top of the loaf with a little milk.
- Bake the bread for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Enjoy your freshly baked milk bread!
