Bread halwa is a delicious and easy-to-make Indian dessert made with bread, milk, sugar, and ghee. Here's a simple recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

  • 6 slices of white bread
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of ghee
  • 1/4 cup of chopped nuts (almonds, cashews, and pistachios)
  • 1/4 tsp of cardamom powder

Instructions:

  • Cut the bread slices into small pieces and grind them into a coarse powder in a food processor or blender.
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat the ghee over medium heat. Add the bread powder and sauté for a few minutes until it turns golden brown.
  • Add the milk and sugar to the pan and stir continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until the mixture thickens and the halwa starts to come together.
  • Add the cardamom powder and chopped nuts to the pan and mix well.
  • Cook for another 5-10 minutes until the halwa becomes smooth and shiny.
  • Turn off the heat and let the halwa cool down a bit.
