Ingredients:
- 4 cups bread flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 packets (4 1/2 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water (105-110°F)
- 1/2 cup warm milk (105-110°F)
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, sugar, salt, and yeast. Stir to mix.
- In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the warm water, warm milk, vegetable oil, and beaten eggs.
- Pour the liquid mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until the dough comes together. Knead the dough for 10-12 minutes on a lightly floured surface, until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat all sides with the oil. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for 1-2 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a loaf and place it into the prepared loaf pan. Cover the pan with a clean kitchen towel and let the dough rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Brush the top of the loaf with beaten egg and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
